Aakash Chopra on whether Shardul Thakur’s performance means the end for Hardik Pandya in tests

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra was asked if Shardul Thakur’s performance would be the end for Hardik in the tests. He responded:

“Never say never. Honestly, Hardik himself has said that he doesn’t want to compete, considering the condition of his back. is very very difficult.”


The former Indian cricketer added that Hardik is on another level if he is fit for bowling. Chopra says:

“But if he makes a full recovery, becomes bowling-ready and can play long spells, then Hardik is Hardik.”

Hardik Pandya has represented Team India in only 11 Tests so far. He gave a decent account of himself in these encounters, with a whole century and a trail of five names to his name.

Aakash Chopra points out that all-rounder Baroda has more to offer as an all-round hitter. He explained:

“If you need a fourth-fastest pitcher plus a proper hitter, Hardik Pandya offers a bit more balance on this team, which is what I believe because the second-fastest pitcher If you’re playing as one of five, his role is a bit more of a hitter than a pitcher.”

Reputable commentator concluded by voting that Hardik is a perfect fit ahead of Shardul for the role of almighty hitter. Chopra stated:

“So in my opinion, if Hardik is still fit, hitting the ball well and the ability he has with the stick, he’s going to outrun Shardul a little bit. But until he’s not fit enough. fine, Shardul is destroying everyone.”
