Virginia López Severiano, 44, died Tuesday while cleaning an industrial bread machine at the Azteca Market in Selma, North Carolina.
Half of her body was sealed inside the machine, according to the New York Post.
First responders arrived at the scene and spent almost 90 minutes trying to free Lopez-Severiano.
A statement obtained by an affiliated CBS news station says that the Selma Fire Department basically dismantled the machine to get the woman out.

Fire Chief Phillip McDaniel told an NBC News affiliate in North Carolina that small tools were used to extricate the woman.
According to McDaniel, the machine appeared to be on while she was cleaning it.
After being freed, López Severiano was flown to Duke University Hospital so doctors could operate on her arm.
López Severiano died overnight from her injuries.
López Severiano’s daughter confirmed the news on Facebook to confirm the news and honor her mother.
Miriam Amado-Lopez remembered her mother as “kind, funny, goofy, hardworking, beautiful, a provider, nurturer, and the backbone of our family,” according to the New York Post.
“My mother is the best mother a girl can have. She taught me resilience, the importance of hard work, and what true love feels like. My mom didn’t have the easiest life from a young age,” Miriam Amado-Lopez said in the post.
A GoFundMe was created to support the family and has already surpassed its $5,000 goal.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration invests in this incident. They are also investing in the death of a 22-year-old who died operating a bread machine.
A market representative did not comment.
