They confronted the burglar, who was wearing dark clothing, a mask and a bag on his back.

He then fled to the entrance of the hotel on the island Antigua before the escape.

The scammer managed to snatch some of the couple’s valuables, including a £700 camera and £5,000 in cash.

Antigua Police have confirmed they are investigating last weekend’s incident.

A spokesman for the hotel said the tourists had been “traumatized”.

They added, “Something like this shouldn’t be happening here.”

“We would like to apologize to the visitor.

The matter has been reported to the police and is in their hands.

“The police are dealing with it right now.”
