A Tale of Two Sons will be free on the Epic Games Store

From now until 11 a.m. ET next Thursday, you can drop by the Epic Games Store to pick it up Windbound free. But those who don’t care Windbound can see next week’s free offer Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons more palatable. Released back in 2013, the PC version of Brothers received an impressively high Metascore of 90 on Metacritic, with reviewers particularly praising the game’s emotional storytelling. Getting such a critically-acclaimed game for free should be a no-brainer for many players, but you can only take advantage of this offer from February 17 to February 24.

According to Swedish-Lebanon filmmaker Josef Fares, Brothers puts the player in the shoes of, as the title suggests, two brothers who embark “on an epic fairy tale journey”. They performed this mission mainly to help their father, who was already terminally ill, and they were only able to cure him by finding the “Water of Life.” To obtain this cure, both brothers must work together and compensate for each other’s weaknesses. As The description of Epic Games Store put it, “they must be… Brothers.”

A different kind of co-op experience

As for the game, the description labels it as “playing co-op in single-player mode.” This refers to the fact that the player controls both brothers at once through the use of two analog sticks, a unique control setup that allows for some interesting puzzle-solving scenarios. Along the way, the player will pass through many locations and even a few bosses to deal with, which seems unusual for a more brainy game like this one.

All in all, next week’s free offer Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on the Epic Games Store is a great opportunity for players to catch up on a well-received game they might have missed. The Epic Games Store page advertises Brothers as a “journey you’ll never forget.” Interested players will soon see for themselves if that’s the case for them.
