A SHOOTING in a Target parking lot has killed a woman while cops search for the suspect.
According to police, shots erupted around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when a woman was standing in front of the store.
The 47-year-old was standing as an unidentified gunman approached her and began firing shots in her direction.
She was beaten multiple times and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
No suspects are currently in custody following the attack and investigators are still investigating.
The motive behind the shooting is also not yet known.
Crime in Chicago has increased in recent weeks.
Just last week, a fourth victim was pulled from Chicago waters in less than a week.
Police said the body of a female victim was discovered in the waters of the Chicago River just before 8 a.m. Friday.
The unknown woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances of her death were unclear.
Three other bodies were pulled from water bodies in Chicago last weekend.
The body of the first woman was discovered in the Chicago River around 10:40 p.m. on April 16. The victim has yet to be identified.
Less than an hour later, a second victim, Yuet Tsand, 80, was pulled from Bubbly Creek.
On April 17, a man’s body was recovered from the water of Lake Michigan.
Police have not said whether the four deaths are related.
Police are investigating the death of all four victims.
Autopsy results were not published in any of the cases.
