A powerful signal given by a young girl to escape a kidnapping after a man followed her and her sister and chased them into a church

TWO young sisters escaped kidnapping over the weekend by seeking help at a nearby church.

One of the girls, both 12, gave a powerful signal at a church Sunday night after a man from Cherry’s Bar and Grill in Fishhawk, Tampa, followed them home.

Hillsborough County deputies revealed it was one of the girls who could mouth the words “help me” to an adult – which prompted a 911 call, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

The man, later identified as 37-year-old David Daniels, first told the two girls outside he would “supervise” their walk home from the restaurant around 6pm.

Jessica Lang of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Daniels “didn’t know those kids and those kids definitely didn’t know him,” WFLA reports.

Daniels followed the girls out of the restaurant, punched one of them on the head and, according to Lang, followed them.

She added, “Thankfully, these kids stuck together and rode their bikes to a nearby church and asked an adult for help.”

Lang said the man followed the teenage girls to church, went inside and claimed they were his children.

Authorities say Daniels also put one of the girls in a headlock.

A woman who asked to remain anonymous told FOX 13 she saw something unusual as the children and man approached the church.

The woman claimed Daniels hit one of the girls on the head multiple times.

The unidentified woman said: “One of the little girls said to me, ‘Please help me, this is not my father.’

She explained, “He kind of talked over her, right behind her, put his arm around her neck and said something in her ear.”

The woman overheard the man speak of the girls: “We just moved here, we just want to see how we can help you do what you are doing.”

She then called 911 when she got a chance and the deputies were able to locate Daniels outside.

The woman – whose exploits saved the girls – insisted she didn’t need recognition for her actions.

She told FOX 13: “I don’t want to be a hero. I was only doing what I hope anyone would do for my own children.”
