A North Dakota man is accused of tricking a 13-year-old Washington County girl into broadcasting explicit videos

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police say a North Dakota man has been arrested for tricking a 13-year-old Peters Township girl into sending sexually explicit videos of her sexually assaulting another child.

Police said Nicholas Nesdahl, 27, was arrested and charged and the 13-year-old girl was also arrested on sexual assault charges.

An investigation into the case began back in October when the teenager’s mother reported concerns to police after finding disturbing videos on her daughter’s cell phone.

Police said the 13-year-old had been involved in various sexual acts with her 6-year-old stepsister and then sent the videos to Nesdahl.

Police said after receiving recordings from Snapchat, conversations between the 13-year-old girl and Nesdahl began last year when he requested videos of the girl first performing sexual acts on herself. Authorities then said he wanted to and demanded videos of the teenager and the 6-year-old together.

Police said the 13-year-old girl also kept a diary in which she admitted to speaking to several people on Snapchat. According to the affidavit, the girl told investigators that the people she spoke to “filled her mind with rape and incest fantasies.”

Peters Township Police said they tracked Nesdahl through his IP address. Authorities said he confessed to speaking to the 13-year-old girl and receiving explicit video and pictures of her. He told her he was 15 years old.

“We’ve issued a search warrant with Homeland Security. We were able to confiscate his cell phone and we found pictures and videos showing underage children,” Peters Township Police Department Detective Ed Walker said.

During a search, police said they found more than 400 pictures and videos on his cell phone. He also had folders with explicit images of at least 20 other victims from across the country.

“As with everything, look at what your kids do on their phones every day,” Walker said. “Snapchat again, you don’t know who they’re talking to. And they could say that they are a 15 year old person and a 27 year old man. It is dangerous.”

Nesdahl is behind bars in North Dakota and will be taken to Washington County in the coming days as Homeland Security in Pittsburgh takes over the case.

Two other people from Florida and California are being investigated. Their phones and computers were confiscated, police said. They are believed to be connected to the case, but no charges have been filed yet. A North Dakota man is accused of tricking a 13-year-old Washington County girl into broadcasting explicit videos
