A MADDY optical illusion has viewers scratching their heads as circles appear to disappear before their eyes.
The image begins with a viewer seeing a series of purple dots arranged in a circle around a focal point.
For the optical illusion to work you need to stare at the black cross in the center of the circle for at least 20 seconds.
At first, a space appears to run around the purple dots.
After a while you will see a green circle replacing the purple one as it moves clockwise.
Focus on the black cross any longer and the purple circles will completely disappear leaving only the green dot racing around in a circle.
But be careful not to break your gaze as the green dot will disappear and the illusion will fade.

The stunning image was first created in 2005 and is commonly known as the Purple chaser illusion or the Pacman illusion.
According to its inventor Jeremy Hinton, “The illusion illustrates Troxler fading, complementary colors, negative aftermath, and can display colors outside of the display gamut.”
The illusion works because of the negative afterimage of the retina, which causes parts of the retina in our eye to become overstimulated and desensitized.
Negative afterimage means that we can still see color for a short time even when a stimulus is no longer present.
The mind trick is also an example of apparent movement, meaning if you see something in one place and in a slightly different place, you tend to perceive movement.
Recently a similar one Illusion of a moving white dot had also baffled and divided the internet.
Meanwhile, this shadowed optical illusion has left viewers perplexed – can YOU guess what’s behind the image?
