A man was injured after an explosion in the city center as emergency services rushed to the scene

A MAN WAS INJURED IN AN EXPLOSION in a busy city center this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the site of the reported gas explosion in Plymouth.

Police confirmed that one man was injured in the blast.
The police statement also confirmed that a fire extinguisher was believed to have been involved in the explosion.
It added that the Health and Safety Executive has been informed and the area is cordoned off.
A tweet from PC Tom Ottley, Neighborhood Beat Manager for the area, revealed emergency workers attended the incident.
PC Ottley said: “Emergency services are dealing with reports of a gas explosion on New George Street.
“This is an isolated case and cordons are in place to ensure the safety of the public.”
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called to a report of an explosion and on arrival it was found to be an isolated case classified as an industrial accident.
“One man was injured with arm injuries and no other members of the public were involved.”
