A man and woman killed in horror crash after two cars collided in Somerset, as cops urged witnesses to come forward

Two people were killed and a third hospitalized in a car crash in Somerset this morning.

Police officers confirmed the deaths of an unnamed man and woman after their Vauxhall Agila collided with another car on the A38 around 11.20am.

They also said the driver of the other vehicle, an Audi Q7, was taken to the hospital.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police are at the scene of a two car collision which has unfortunately resulted in the death of two people.

“It happened on the A38 between Tarnock and Lower Weir, near Axbridge.

“While formal identification is ongoing, her next of kin are being assisted by a family liaison officer. Our thoughts are with them.”

The couple reportedly died at the scene of the accident.

The spokesman added that the road remains closed while investigators examine the scene and the vehicles are recovered.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
