A doctor has revealed what happens to your blood after two weeks of eating chocolate every day

However, according to recent studies, consumption of this product makes sense when trying to lower high blood pressure. According to Russian doctor Irina Andreeva, the sweet treat can lower blood pressure “significantly” if you choose the right strain.

Chocolate and its influence on the blood

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is the most direct route to serious health problems, from heart attacks to strokes. In this case, diet can be a trigger for this condition, but just as some foods can trigger the problem, others can prevent it or help improve the condition. One of them is chocolate.

“While a sweet treat with a filling can be delicious, this particular type of treat isn’t good for the heart. It’s important to choose dark chocolate, which helps lower blood sugar because it contains plant-based compounds called flavanols. This type of delicacy and cocoa products rich in flavanols are attracting interest as an alternative option for treating hypertension,” says Russian doctor Dr. Irina Andreeva.

According to a new study, the dark variety of this cocoa-rich treat has a “significant blood pressure-lowering effect,” says the expert. However, the scientists also noticed that this effect was only observed in participants with high blood pressure or pre-hypertension. In people with normal values, the pressure is not “significantly” reduced.

“Positive results in hypertensive patients are observed after two weeks of regular consumption of the treat,” says the expert.

Cardiologists even recommend replacing coffee with this cocoa treat. It contains polyphenols that have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and prevent the formation of cholesterol plaques, as well as more antioxidants than blueberries.

Daily use of the treat with a high cocoa content improves the metabolism of the intestinal flora. This is due to the probiotics leading to:

  • improvement of processes in the large intestine;
  • suppress the development of pathogenic microflora;
  • stimulate the synthesis of folic acid, which is necessary for the full functioning of the stomach and intestines.

The cocoa product (applies only to chocolate products with a high percentage of real cocoa) has an antispasmodic effect, dilates blood vessels, reduces pressure in the abdominal cavity, cleanses the liver, reduces free radicals, improves immunity and reduces the risk of inflammation.
