A couple transforms an ordinary home into a time capsule paradise

MODERN decorating trends can be pretty boring.
Kardashian style plain white, everything looks pretty boring when the home looks the same.

This couple took a step back in time when they transformed their home into a vintage time capsule.
Since each room was inspired by a different decade, the duo had their work cut out.
But the finished rooms look like they’re straight out of a movie set.
Ellen Smurthwaite, 23, and partner Jake Nicholson, 27, managed to give their home a retro feel for just £600.

The Cumbrian couple decided to give their home a twist when they started decorating, starting with a 70’s themed living room.
Complete with groovy patterned pillows and a forest green velvet sofa, the room is a disco ball from being totally funky.
Vintage art prints, including a funky Playboy poster, add a youthful touch to the space.
A zebra rug completes the space, adding layer and dimension to the 1970s escape.
The room only cost the duo £400 to furnish: “We find everything in charity shops, on the Amazon or Facebook market.
“We don’t have a huge budget so this works really well for us as most of the items are other people’s junk.
“I have a lot of grandparents’ estates and even a WWII music box,” they shared.
They took their bedroom even further back in time with a 1950s theme.
A stunning feature wall behind her bed that draws the focus, and many other 1950’s decor add to the effect.
A vintage dressing table and a lampshade with tassels give the room a pretty authentic feel.
The couple bonded over their shared love of all things vintage: “We wanted to have a home that would reflect different decades,” Ellen said.
“Since I was 18, I’ve been going to flea markets and picking out things I wanted at my grandparents’ house.”
