A British police officer was found dead with a mysterious head wound on her first day of holiday in Corfu.
The body of the 22-year-old police officer was discovered on a side street in Cavos in the early hours of Friday morning.
The young Brit was on her first day of vacation on the island and went out with her friend, who is also British.
When her pal decided to return to the hotel where they were staying, the 22-year-old stayed outside, local media reported.
The woman, who was serving in Surrey, was found near the main road with a mysterious wound to her head.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene of the accident, but the woman was pronounced dead.
The Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the woman’s death.
According to a coroner’s report, she sustained a head injury, but an autopsy is ongoing to determine the cause of death.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage of venues in the area.
An FCDO spokesman said: “We have been informed of the death of a British woman in Greece and are in contact with local authorities.”
