76 police departments march in front of hospital window of boy battling cancer – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police departments from across Allegheny County have come together to bring joy to a young boy with cancer at Children’s Hospital.

Joshua Eastman, eight, was honored in a parade Tuesday. Pittsburgh police say there are 76 different police departments with a total of 87 vehicles.

“This is huge, this is huge. This will make up his world, he will never forget it,” said his father Jason Eastman.

Joshua was diagnosed with leukemia in May. Jason said that he dreamed of being a cop for as long as he could remember. He said Joshua loves collecting police patches and one thing that makes him happy while at the hospital is opening letters with police patches.

“There was an officer in Texas who sent him a badge when he was first diagnosed in Freeport and it went viral and it went around the world, even New Zealand, all over the place. place. Jason said.

Recent social media posts about Joshua have been referred to the Allegheny County police department.

In an effort to cheer him up, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department decided to hold a parade past Children’s Hospital Tuesday, where Joshua watched them from his window. The officers then gave the police patches to the hospital staff, who delivered them to Joshua.

“It happened so long my phone died, I’m trying to get it. You can see it from the top floor, the entire line. Sure, he definitely enjoyed it, it made his day. Jason said.

Joshua has received packages from as far away as Iceland and Australia and has about a thousand envelopes that he has yet to open. His father says the joy on his face when he opens them is priceless.
