After their son, Ethan Crumbley, was charged as an adult for allegedly causing the Oxford High School shooting, James and Jennifer Crumbley also gained national attention.
A preliminary investigation found Mr Crumbley purchased the weapon used in the shooting just four days before it happened.

Debris was also at the school with their son to meet with administrators about Ethan’s behavior just a few hours before filming.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said there were no reports of suspect Ethan Crumbley being bullied at school.
“There’s nothing he could face that would warrant senseless, utterly brutal violence against other children,” he said.
The couple appeared at their son’s placement via Zoom, where the 15-year-old was charged with adultery.
Since then, many have wanted to learn more about the Crumbleys as the investigation into the shooting continues.
ETHAN SPECIFIC CODE ‘DO NOT WORK IT’
When news of an active school shooter became public, Jennifer texted her son, “Ethan, don’t do that.”
But then the shooting happened.
Oakland County Lieutenant Tim Willis said at a news conference Friday that Ethan and his father purchased a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol from a store four days before the shooting.
According to prosecutors, the gun was stored in an unlocked safe inside Jennifer and James‘Bedroom.
Ethan is said to have received the weapon as an early Christmas present the day after Thanksgiving.

Fifteen minutes after Jennifer’s text, James called 911 40 minutes after Ethan allegedly killed four people.
James allegedly told police his son might have been the shooter and reported that His gun was missing.
Ethan has bragged about the weapon on social media, posting a photo of it on Instagram and calling it his. “new beauty.”
It is likely that the teen left the gun in his backpack during a school meeting with his parents.
PARENTS ARE CHARGED
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald charged the Crumbleys with involuntary manslaughter Friday, December 3.
Rarely are parents charged with involvement in school shootings committed by their children, even when most minors take firearms from a parent or relative’s home.
There is no Michigan law that requires gun owners to keep weapons away from children. However, McDonald’s proposes that there’s more to building a case.
“All I can say at this point is that the actions taken on behalf of the father and mother go beyond negligence,” she told WJR-AM.
“We are clearly prosecuting the shooter to the fullest extent. … There are other individuals responsible.”
ON THE RUN
Following news of their charges, the Crumbleys allegedly withdrew $4,000 from an ATM and failed to meet a deadline to surrender themselves.
The pair were tracked down by a group of fugitives before being found 11 hours later in a basement.
Police were able to locate them after their vehicle was allegedly abandoned in the Elliott and Lafayette Mountains area of Detroit, Michigan.
Crumbley’s attorney told the Daily Beast in a statement: “The Crumbleys left town on the night of the tragic shooting for their own safety.
“They’re returning to the area sorted out. They’re not fleeing law enforcement despite recent comments in the media.”
Detroit Police Chief James White said Saturday a third person who may have assisted the couple in entering the building to hide is also being looked into by investigators.
The sheriff told reporters.
PARENTS HAVE BEEN SURVEYED
After being arrested by the police, James and Jennifer surrendered to the authorities and were detained.
Michigan couple pleads not guilty against all charges against them and stated that the gun used in the crime was “locked”.
They’re currently being held on over $500k each after a judge cited concerns about them being “flight risk,” based on their recent actions.
Before joining yourself, Law enforcement tracked Crumbley’s whereabouts through a cell phone tower, before their phones were turned off.

Photos of the Crumbleys were released by the police shortly after their arrest.
They appeared for the first time in an Oakland County courthouse on Saturday morning.
The Crumbleys’ attorneys released a statement before their arrangement.
Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman said on Saturday morning: “We understand that our client was arrested last night although we fully intend to turn them over this morning for arrangement, contrary to information. Misinformation is rampant in the media.”
“Unfortunately, this case has caused an unimaginable tragedy for every person involved, including every member of the public.
“While it is human nature to want to find someone to blame or something to point to or something to give us answers to, the charges, in this case, are intended to serve as examples and send messages.
“The prosecution has a lot of specific facts that are filtered and cropped to continue their story to do that.
“We intend to fight this case in the courtroom, not in the court of public opinion. We know that in the end the whole story and the truth will prevail.”
MOM BROKE DOWN IN COURT
When the judge read out the couple’s charges, Jennifer could seen crying.
After pleading not guilty to the couple’s crime, they were brought in suicide clock at the Oakland County Jail like their son before them.
According to Sheriff Bouchard, all three are being tested “several times an hour”.
Bouchard added that records do not indicate that any of the three faced any mental health issues.
