Even though Netflix saved Clearly, Streaming services can’t save every show based solely on fan demand. In the case of a shamefully beloved NBC fan, the Netflix viewership metric is too dominant to ignore, making that saves a no-brainer.
We love that Netflix can access and save any shows that are unfortunately canceled by a TV channel or cable network. Lucifer, Designated Survivor, and Cobra Kai, it’s just impractical or even not commercially viable.
But that didn’t stop avid fans from banging on Netflix’s doors asking, begging, and begging them to do what they’ve done for others: Save their favorite shows. They reserve the right to ask streamers to repeat history and turn a struggling show into one of their strong Netflix shows.
Between Prodigal child, a beloved Fox performance and a pair of beloved Netflix shows with undying fanatics, these shows should be, but probably won’t be saved by Netflix. Even so, fans should continue to cross their arms for a future miracle.
Shows that Netflix may not save
First off, some of these shows have a better second chance than others, but that hasn’t dampened fans’ hopes. Our mere review of facts and figures to predict the future of each of these shows that a comeback is well worth it, no matter how unlikely it seems.
Anne with the letter E
Since CBC and Netflix, who co-produce the series in Canada and internationally, have announced that Anne with the letter E was canceled in 2019, fans haven’t given up on saving the show, and it’s truly inspiring.
From online petitions and buy from billboards, Anne stans did everything in their power to tempt CBC and Netflix to reverse their decisions, but it doesn’t look like either entity will budge when it comes to bringing the series back for season 4.
dark matter, Canadian science fiction series that aired on Syfy Network in the United States, running for three seasons from 2015 to 2017. Although the complete series is currently available to stream online Netflix and devoted fans are still clamoring for more, with no serious circumstances raised for Netflix to consider taking the risk to order another season.
In the case of Fox’s short-lived crime drama Prodigal son, it was a difficult situation. After the series was canceled in May 2021, many rumors about the possibility of the series moving to another network or streaming the series. But in the shadow of Clearly, it seems increasingly unlikely.
Netflix doesn’t seem to save shows before saving Clearly, but they tried to move mountains to get the show rights from Warner Bros. Television. Lucifer. In spite of Prodigal child Like WBTV, lightning only strikes twice. Also, it doesn’t even stream on Netflix in the US, which is not a good sign.
Dark Fiction Wynonna Earp aired on Syfy Network for four seasons, coming to a confusing end in April 2021. Although Syfy has announced the fourth season will be the final, its home country of Canada never officially canceled the series.
While the fans hope that Wynonna Earp will somehow be saved, maybe even by Netflix, is understandable, there is no concrete evidence that such a prospect is even in the table. All four seasons are streamed on Netflix, and unfortunately that might be the best we’ve got.
Julie and the Phantoms
This is the only program on this list with the clearest silver lining. Netflix has not officially canceled Julie and the Phantoms, and it doesn’t renew the teen musical series either. In fact, Netflix hasn’t said much about the series since its release in 2020.
We advise you to prepare for the worst, as more than a year has passed without innovation it seems like writing on the wall. But there is still a huge amount of faith to have Julie and the Phantoms. We’ll have to wait and see “Hard work” will pay off in season 2.
