5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes near Alaska refinery

ALASKA was hit by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake near an oil refinery near Anchorage.

It struck near the Kenai peninsula at 11 a.m. local time.

An oil refinery is believed to be across the bay but is not believed to be in danger.

An earlier earthquake struck Alaska on March 9, just 52 kilometers from Anchorage, and measured 5.1.

Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city with a population of more than 290,000.
