MILLIONS of Americans will receive up to $1,700 in additional financial aid through direct payments from their state this month.

Five states are putting money back into the hands of residents to offset rising costs from inflation.

Maine, Oregon, and Indiana send up to $1,700, $600, and $250, respectively, nationwide.

These payments depend on tax return status and income.

Eligible residents of Chicago, Illinois can apply for transit and fuel card money each month.

Between 2,300 and 2,400 eligible residents in Johnson County, Iowa, are also scheduled to receive $1,400 in stimulus payments this month.

  • Indiana’s Payments, continued

    Any taxpayer who filed their 2020 taxes before January 3, 2022 qualifies for the money.

    In addition, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has proposed returning more money to taxpayers.

    If approved, each eligible Indiana resident would receive payments totaling about $350, according to the governor’s office.

    Married couples applying together would receive approximately $700.

  • 85% of Indiana adults receive payments

    Millions in the state of Indiana received their payback payments in May.

    Refunds are $125 per person and $250 for married couples.

    About 4.3 million Hoosiers will receive the $125 payment, about 85% of the state’s adult population.

    Direct deposits will be made throughout the summer, while residents who have opted for a paper check can expect them to arrive in July or August.

    Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago Moves plan is a financial assistance program aimed at providing financial relief to Chicago residents struggling with transportation costs.

    The mayor said it will make Chicago the first and largest major city in the country to offer this freebie.

    People living in the southern and western boroughs of Chicago receive 75% of fuel card money.

    The remaining 25% of the money will be distributed citywide.

    The transit cards can be used to purchase public transit tickets at Ventra vending machines at CTA stations, Ventra outlets across the city, or digitally through the Ventra website or mobile app.

    Recipients are randomly selected and notified by email.

    Chicago will issue up to 50,000 prepaid fuel cards worth $150.

    And there will be 100,000 $50 prepaid public transit cards under the program.

    The lottery will last until September, giving residents more chances to apply.

  • Chicago helps with gas costs

    Eligible residents of Chicago, Illinois may request a $150 payment to help with travel and gas expenses.

    To apply, you must be a Chicago resident, be at least 18 years old, and have a current and valid city sticker with the correct shipping information for your vehicle.

    Your income must be at or below 100 percent of the Chicago area median income.

    Registration deadline for the next lottery is Friday July 1st.

    The filing deadline was December 31, 2021 or April 15 for an amended declaration. Anyone who misses the deadline will not receive the one-off payment.

    However, you can still amend your federal and Oregon returns to claim the earned income tax credit for that year.

  • Alaska’s Permanent Fund

    One such example is Alaska’s Permanent Fund.

    Alaska has given checks to its citizens under the fund designed to provide citizens with a portion of the state’s oil revenues.

    To qualify, you must have been an Alaskan resident for at least one year, but you are not eligible if you have been convicted or imprisoned for state crimes.

    This year, Alaskans will receive a $2,550 payment from Alaska’s Permanent Fund.

  • Oregon checks

    The Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) said it is issuing more than 236,000 stimulus checks this week.

    They’re worth $600 each under the state’s $141.8 million one-time assistance plan approved by lawmakers in March.

    The stimulus payments will go to low-income workers who have worked during the pandemic.
