PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Officials rescued three dogs from a Knoxville home on Thursday.

Officials received several calls from neighbors who said they saw the dogs on the roof of an abandoned house. Investigators said one of the upstairs windows was broken, allowing the dogs to run in and out.

What officers found inside shocked them, and they said the dogs were in danger.
“Conditions inside were appalling,” said officer Christine Luffey.

Humane Animal Rescue is now taking care of the dogs. They will be put up for adoption once their owner has officially given them up.
