2DAY radio host Dave Hughes was ambushed in a bizarre attack by a “big meth head” as he was on his way to buy dinner for his family

RADIO personality Dave Hughes says he is “traumatised” after being robbed by a “big meth head” while shopping for potatoes.
Host of 2DAY FM breakfast show Hughesy, Ed & Erin told of the bizarre attack on Wednesday’s show.
Hughesy, 52, told listeners how he rode his electric bike to a fancy potato shop in Melbourne, SpudBar, to buy dinner for his wife and children.
He realized it was closed and was about to call his wife when a man came up to him and grabbed his phone.
Hughesy explained: “I’m sitting on my bike holding my phone to my ear and suddenly someone takes my phone out of my hand.”
“Yes, they stole my phone.
“I’ll look and I’ll say it’s a man, a big man, and he’s crazy! I’m going to say he’s a meth head.”
The radio presenter said the man who attacked him then spoke into the phone and became frustrated when he realized there was no one on the other end.
He said: “He walks away with my phone and tries to talk to someone on the phone but I haven’t even had the chance to make the call.”
“He says, ‘You haven’t talked to anyone!’ As if it was my fault; I pretended to be on the phone.

Hughesy said he yelled at the man from about 10 meters away to “give my phone back” but had “no intention of pursuing him.”
“At that point my phone was stolen by a man who was obviously on drugs and tall, and I didn’t know what to do.”
Presenter Kate Langbroek, 58, suggested Hughesy should have called the police.
She said: “I know we all think, ‘Oh, that’s just how it goes’.”
“But if you start to accept such dysfunction, then the dysfunction will take over.”
Hughesy said the man eventually threw the phone back at him.
This came after the Australian comedian revealed on a show that he had been banned from riding and was now relying on his electric bike to get around.
Hughesy said in August: “This is the first time this has happened to me in 35 years. I lost my driver.” License.
“I’m not a drink driver, I don’t even drink. It’s not, and I’m not a crazy speedster.”
“But if you drive 30 miles per hour in 40 zones, you do that enough times and you get a point, a point, a point, a point, and they’re all gone.”
In July, Hughesy’s co-host Erin Molan, 41, made headlines when she Let me make a shocking confession on her breakfast show.
Hughesy asked Erin, “You get food delivered to your house six times in one day?”
The DJ admitted that one day she ordered a sausage and egg McMuffin, followed by a muffin with orange juice, a chicken schnitzel, potato scallops and a salmon dish with fries.
She used her delivery apps one last time after realizing her fish and chips were less salted than she’d hoped and her shaker was empty.
Erin said: “So then I went to Ampol Metro Go. That’s 700 meters away and I ordered a sea salt mill from Woolworths, 110 grams.”
Hughesy asked her, “You were waiting for the salt to be delivered so you could eat your chips?”

Erin replied, “Yes. I’m not a big people person. I’m a bit of a loner by nature.”
Hughesy joked: “Yeah, but you’re not Meghan Markle. You won’t be patted down at the front gate.”
