2022 Golden Globe Winners Announced, Despite Hollywood’s Total Boycott

Sunday night saw the announcement of the annual Golden Globe Award winners to a essentially empty audience. Big winners of the night: The power of the dog and West story.
Traditionally a gathering of drunk celebrities televised on NBC for ordinary people to enjoy, the Golden Globes are also known to be a big joke. Founded in 1944 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, an organization made up of … members of the foreign press… the ceremony turned all but a meaningless milestone on the road to the Oscars ceremony, albeit a good enough reason to give some acceptance speeches. reduced some zingers, and mitigated the severity of the “awards season” so far. But when an exhibit of the Los Angeles Times since last February has held back the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s uncertain financials and severe lack of diversity, so it feels like the Golden Globes have finally had a toast. No one really cares and no one with integrity plans to emerge if HFPA continues. NBC canceled the 2022 broadcast with an order: “Changing this level takes time and effort, and we strongly feel that HFPA needs time to get it right.”
But instead of losing time and doing the work, HFPA just keeps going. A month after hiring Snoop Dogg to announce the nominees (and deliver news of the mispronunciation) Ben Affleck and Denis Villeneuve, in the most interesting way), the company held a private event, with no live streams, no access to the press, and no famous faces. Team members read the dinner winners and the Globes official Twitter account blow them away. Meanwhile, the Critics Choice Awards, arguably the next biggest awards organization after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and HFPA, hopes to fill the void with its own TV show, but Due to COVID-19 concerns, the awards have been delayed from their January 9 broadcasts on The CW and TBS. Arguably reasonable! Not the style of HFPA.
Out of curiosity, here are the inter-dimensional Golden Globe winners, and here’s the legendary tweet.
