£19.5m BVB bid falls through after £13m West Ham bid

Spezia has rejected an offer from Borussia Dortmund for defender Jakub Kiwior’s January transfer. The Polish star is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
This is reported by TuttoMercatoWEB, which reports that the Serie A team has rejected BVB’s offer for central defence. Westfalenstadion officials had hoped to bring Kiwior to the Bundesliga for €22m. But the Aquilotti rate the 22-year-old higher.
Borussia Dortmund are serious about their desire to sign Kiwior this month and oust their Italian admirers. Juventus and AC Milan have shown a firm desire to poach the star with nine caps from the Stadio Alberto Picco. Nevertheless, BVB has the edge after bidding.
Spezia turned down Borussia Dortmund’s offer for Kiwior as the €22m offer on the table matched the total value of his transfer. It likely included add-ons that failed to persuade Aquilotti bosses to sell the defender under contract until 2025. He has also played 19 times this season.
Additionally, TuttoMercatoWEB has previously revealed an asking price of €30m (£26.5m). But the Ligurian team’s rating is higher than AC Milan can present. Juventus also believed the Tychy-born enforcer was worth just €20m (£17.5m) before heading to the World Cup.
Kiwior’s transfer from Spezia are also interested in Tottenham and West Ham
Spezia can charge a higher fee for Kiwior’s transfer than Borussia Dortmund have offered as he also has interest from Tottenham and West Ham. Milan Live claimed in November that the Hammers had made a €15m (£13m) bid to edge out interest from Napoli and Atletico Madrid.
The Irons also wanted to reach an agreement with the Aquilotti. However, AS note that Tottenham, Villarreal and Roma have also investigated Kiwior’s transfer from Spezia. He even has an admirer in Poland, teammate Robert Lewandowski, who spoke up affectionately in September.
“Listen to me: this is a real player,” Lewandowski said of quotes from Citta Della Spezia. “I noticed that while warming up before the game against the Netherlands.
“In training it is very difficult to see certain things. I asked, ‘But who is he?’ Then I saw him in the game, extraordinary. Really big potential.”
Kiwior made his debut for Poland against Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League in June 2022. Before the World Cup in Qatar, where he played to within three minutes of the Bialo-czerwoni round, he played four more times of 16 this winter.
