18-year-old boy dies when a sand dune collapses on Toms River beach in New Jersey after siblings tried to dig him up with frisbees

A TEENAGE has died from his injuries after sand fell on him and his sister on a New Jersey beach.

Levi Caverley, 18, and his 17-year-old sister took their family to the beach in Toms River on Tuesday.

The family had come to visit from Maine.

The siblings had used Frisbees to dig a 10-foot hole in the sand before it collapsed on both of them, Mayor Mo Hill said.

Rescuers at the scene were able to save the girl, but Levi Caverley died during the collapse.

Police and emergency services are still working to recover his body.
