13 injured and 8 rescued at London pub Two years later when upstairs traps drinkers in ruins

THIRD PEOPLE has been injured after the upper floor of a crowded bar got COLD – with bettors trapped under the rubble.
The Met Police declared the situation a major incident after the mezzanine at Two More Years in Hackney Wick, East London toppled at 4.45pm this evening.
Of the 13 casualties, 3 were likely to be seriously injured and 10 others were slightly injured.
Four people were taken to hospitals and major trauma centers – while eight were rescued from the bar by London Fire Brigade.
A man who was at the site at the time said: “There was just a kind of noise and dust started falling.
“Me and my friend just ran to the side and the whole thing just fell apart in seconds.”
The man said fortunately there were no more people sitting right below the mezzanine floor.
He saw a person being carried out on a stretcher and into an ambulance, but he said most of the injured had cuts and bruises and not anything serious.

Clapton Community FC wrote on Twitter: “Several spectators and players from our match at Stonewall FC were at this bar when the mezzanine collapsed. We believe one person was taken to the hospital but The miracle is that there are no serious injuries as far as we know.”
Another player tweeted: “0/10 don’t recommend staying on the second floor of a bar when it falls apart
“I’m fine (as are all the people in the building as far as I know), but it’s horrible.”
A Met Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called at 4:44pm to Roach Road, #HackneyWick, to reports that part of the building had collapsed.
“Several resources have been sent to the scene.
“Medical staff are treating the patient at the scene and are working closely with colleagues from the emergency services.
“The incident was declared a major incident with the local hospital being put on standby to receive a large number of people.”
London Fire Brigade Commander Sacha Clement, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters conducted a systematic search of the building and rescued eight people from inside.
“They were trapped at the rest of the mezzanine and staff used ladders to bridge between the floor and the interior stairs to get them safely out of the building.
“We are working with our emergency services partners, and several people have been treated at the scene and taken to hospital.”
London Ambulance Service tweeted: “We were called at 4:44pm to Roach Road, Hackney Wick, to reports that part of the building has collapsed.
“We have dispatched a number of resources to the scene. Crews are treating patients at the scene and are working closely with emergency services colleagues.”
