10-year-old girl found overseas after being ‘kidnapped’ for alleged child molestation

1-year-old Sophie Long was found overseas after being reported missing earlier this year.

According to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, the girl is currently in guard custody. Sophie is believed to have been kidnapped by her father, Michael Long, who is currently in police custody.

“Sophie Long has been located abroad and is in protective custody. An announcement from the sheriff’s office is being made for her safe return to her family in the United States.

“Michael Long is being held on a felony charge of Interference with Child Custody. The United States government is in the process of extraditing Long to Collin County, Texas.

Authorities did not say in which country Sophie was found but Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said the “resolute work” of his deputies, the FBI and US police officers “has been” paid off this morning.”

“We are glad Sophie is safe,” he said.

Sophie was last seen on July 12 and became at the center of a case that took the Internet by storm. Her father accused his ex-wife’s current partner of sexually abusing the child.

Kelly Long denies all allegations saying that “the personal relationship … of her ex-husband has now escalated to a dangerous level.”

Court documents say Michael and Sophie code communication and used special words to let him know about the alleged abuse at her home.

ONE viral video appeared to detail Sophie screaming and telling her grandmother that she didn’t want to leave the car and go home because she felt uncomfortable.

Since the video appeared on the social network, a Facebook campaign has been created called Stand with Sophie to attract the attention of celebrities.

Michael Long and his ex-wife Kelly participated in a uproarious custody war for Sophie after their divorce in July 2015.

A judge has granted the parents a 50/50 split of custody agreement.

BRING SOPHIE HOME SAFELY

A woman believed to be Michael’s girlfriend posted on Facebook on Sunday, writing: “I’m praying this will help someone spot them and help us get Sophie home safely.”

Kourtney Chalmers added: “Again, the psychological assessment indicated Michael was not a stable person for Sophie to be with and he had threatened to run away from the country with her.”

In a statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety said: “The missing minor is believed to be with his non-custodial parent, Michael Long, and possibly en route to Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Mexico or Argentina.

“Michael Long could be driving a white 2010 Ford Edge SUV or a gray van with black windows, NRA stickers, and a black rack on top.

“The missing teen had a small burn on one of her arms.”

Michael Long went to the custody hearing without Sophie and she has not been seen since, police told Crime Online.

‘DANGEROUS VENDETTA’

Kelly was then given full custody and sent the children to live more than 200 miles away from their father.

Her spokeswoman said: “We have alerted the authorities and attorneys are doing everything to warn the public about the false nature of these claims. Michael Long’s personal feud against with his ex-wife has now escalated to dangerous levels.”

Court documents noted that both parents had a history of calling Child Protective Services to complain about the other.

No previous claims against CPS were substantiated, including allegations of domestic violence, according to court documents.

Michael Long later created a Facebook group to raise awareness of the detention case and share updates with Sophie’s supporters.

Last September, a judge granted Kelly Long custody of the children, granting Michael Long visitation rights.
