The Lakeland Police Department shared a picture of a Nissan four-door sedan and said it was looking for the driver after gunfire rang out.

According to officials, the four occupants in the vehicles slowly approached the victims around 3:45 p.m. Monday before opening fire.

The police arrived at the scene in just a minute and discovered three wounded.

The other victims were transported privately to a hospital.

Two of the victims were left with critical injuries while the rest were listed in stable condition, police said.

All of the victims have been described as males between the ages of 20 and 35, and investigators are working to determine their relationships.

Authorities said the incident happened near Iowa Avenue North and Plum Street.

A “criminal amount” of marijuana was also discovered at the scene.

No suspects have been identified.

“That doesn’t happen in Lakeland,” Police Chief Sam Taylor said in a news conference.

“I’ve never worked at an event where so many people were shot at once.”

The shooting was described as being targeted by officers and Taylor said the public was not in danger.
